Key information

Objective

The initial objective was to assess if the study product had an impact on microbiome composition and functionality and if there a difference in microbiome composition between responders and non-responders.

Available datasets

Data from clinical trial (anthropometric, bone health related parameters, …), gut microbiome metagenomic data (taxonomic composition and functional profiles) and short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) data.

Added value

The flexibility of the Data Science approach made it possible to redirect the analysis that did not show conclusive results on the initial hypotheses. After a new exploration, a new scientific claim, “microbiome neutral” was extracted that could be directly validated on a marketing and commercial level.
